Elementary Curriculum Overview (Grade 1 & Grade 2)

Our early elementary grades aim to develop confident learners with essential skills in reading, writing, math, and environmental studies.
Grade 1 focuses on building reading fluency, basic math operations, and understanding the world around them. In Grade 2, students begin to explore more complex concepts in language and numbers, engage in creative writing, and learn through projects and activities that build critical thinking.

In Grade 1, the focus is on strengthening reading fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension through phonics, guided reading, and storytelling. Students learn basic grammar, sentence construction, and spelling. Mathematics covers foundational concepts such as addition, subtraction, basic geometry, and measurement. Environmental Studies introduces the world around them, helping children understand nature, seasons, community roles, and healthy living. Art, music, and physical education are integrated to support creativity, expression, and physical development.

In Grade 2, students advance to more complex reading comprehension, creative writing, and grammar usage. Mathematics expands to include multiplication, division, fractions, and problem-solving strategies. Science and Environmental Studies focus on exploration, simple experiments, and understanding relationships between living and non-living things. Project-based learning is emphasized, encouraging teamwork, research skills, and critical thinking.
